How to Amp Up Your Mood and Motivation Right Now

image - SMARTSTART Productivity

Start by doing what’s necessary. Then do what’s possible. And suddenly, you’re doing the impossible.

Every business owner experiences periods of darkness and doubt that, if not dealt with, can hijack productivity through excessive procrastination. Worse, losing a few hours can quickly grow into something evil lasting days, weeks and possibly even longer.

More importantly, when you feel yourself slowing down to the point where a full-blown slump is coming on you must take immediate action to turn things around before things get out of hand.

Music is one of the many secret weapons I use for getting things done when my brain is hell bent on killing my productivity. You can use it to simply shift your mood and recharge motivation or you can pair tracks with specific tasks and use it as a timer if you’re in the mood for a little beat-the-clock-style frenzied action.

I found this 10 song playlist to amp up your mood and motivation right now by Allison Daniels on MindBodyGreen. It’s 39 minutes of awesomeness that really works for me! Check it out and see if there isn’t a song or two here you can use to kick your ass back into gear when necessary.

Here’s the playlist if you need more incentive to listen:

  1. Under Pressure — Queen & David Bowie
  2. You Make My Dreams Come True — Daryl Hall & John Oates
  3. Mr. Blue Sky — Electric Light Orchestra
  4. You Get What You Give — New Radicals
  5. This Year — The Mountain Goats
  6. Don’t Stop Me Now — Queen
  7. Don’t Stop Believin’ — Journey
  8. The Fighter (ft. Ryan Tedder) — Gym Class Heroes
  9. Powerful — Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, and Tarrus Riley
  10. Confident — Demi Lovato

Couldn’t find anything that works for you on this list? Why not make your own? Do it now. If you can’t do it now, do it sooner rather than later. The day will come when you need it and you’ll be glad it was ready and waiting in your toolbox.

More next time. Until then, remember to LOVE YOUR WORK, whatever it may be.
